Members of the AARP organization can obtain many discounts and coupons on travel. Membership is open for people who are 50 or older. AARP has partnered with travel booking services, cruise companies, restaurants and car rentals to pass these discounts on to members. Because of AARP’s purchasing power, the discounts and savings offered to members may be substantial in some cases.
AARP Hotel Discounts
AARP has partnered with Expedia for searching and booking of worldwide hotels. Hotel discounts include economy, mid-price and luxury accommodations at participating hotels and resorts. In addition to a standard discount at these hotels (5-20% off), AARP hotel discounts may include limited time offers for top hotels advertised at its website. AARP hotels network is very large; these are ten popular deals and their discounts:

- Hampton Inn – up to 10%
- Ramada - up to 20%
- Howard Johnson – up to 10%
- Wyndham Hotels and Resorts – up to 20%
- Le Meridian - up to 15%

To get these discounts AARP members should visit the website and use the free Expedia travel tool. Members can also call up the hotels and make reservations directly using their AARP membership.
Car Rentals Savings
Major car rental companies work with AARP to offer 10 -25% discounts to members. Members should visit the AARP site, each rent a car website or contact car rental companies by telephone to make reservations and obtain discounts. - Budget Rent a Car – up to 20%
- Hertz Rent a Car – up to 25%
- Avis Rent a Car- up to 25%

Restaurant Discounts
AARP restaurant discounts are sponsored by Restaurant.com. This site offers members 50% and more savings on restaurant gift certificates. Members can purchase these certificates online at the sponsor’s website or by telephone from participating restaurants.
Comparing AARP Membership Discounts
Before booking hotels or resorts AARP members should shop around and compare prices to get the best deals. Travel sites such as Priceline.com, Travelocity.com and Expedia.com can be use to estimate the costs of a stay in the same hotels participating on the AARP network. Hotels and resorts can be contacted directly to get price quotes and to compare them to AARP hotel discounts.
For car rentals members should use the travel sites above to estimate costs or the car rental companies directly. Many times these companies have special deals for limited time that may be a better value than AARP discounts.
